Mommy Play Group

An important part of our lives (mine and Ava's) is our Tuesday play group. We joined just over a year ago and we look forward to it every week. Other activities and commitments come and go throughout the year, but this play group has been our consistent "get out of the house sanity saver." (If you don't understand that last sentence you've probably never stayed home with small children) It's been fun to watch the kids grow together and look forward to playing each week. The playgroup is for the kids of course, but it's also very much about the Moms having a chance to get out of the house and have an adult conversation.

A few weeks ago when there seemed to be more toy snatching and screaming than usual; my friend Susan suggested that we should look into hiring a babysitter for playgroup so that we could go out for lunch or at least have a complete conversation. (I can't remember if this was on the day that Joshua exited the front door with a toy grocery cart or the day that he ended up in Jennifer's toilet...now you understand why Ava likes Joshua!) Since there doesn't seem to be any affordable daytime babysitting options, I guess we'll have to just settle for the ocassional Mom's night out.

Here are some pictures from our Valentine's Day playgroup and of Ava making cookies for her friends and Daddy. (The final picture is of Ava decorating cookies last year...I can't believe how much she's grown!)
